Tips
on saying warm this winter
if you have any suggestions email me asap as its nearing winter and starting to get VERY cold i am sure other knowledge students will appreciate more comments and advice.
These tips are listed in order of cost starting with cheapest
1/ Put many thin layers of clothing on rather than a few thick layers eg 2 thin jumpers rather than 1 thick one. You will be surprised at how much warmer this will make you and at no cost.
2/ Buy a balaclava these cost around £5 these are very effective as you lose a lot of body heat through your head.
3/ Assuming you have gloves already buy some inner gloves these can be obtained at most motorcycle shops for around £5 your hands also lose a lot of body heat so totally invaluable and worth every penny.
4/ If your like me your feet can get so numb your toes feel like they are going to fall off !! the solution to this is knee length ski socks these cost up to £10 but hey at least after been out for a while on the bike you can still mange to walk.
5/ Fit a bigger knowledge board or make the angle of you exsisting one more vertial as it will block more of the wind from hitting you .
6/ Handle bar Mitts, these in my opinion are the best addition you can do to your bike (AS LONG AS THEY ARE PUT ON PROPERLY) most people just put them on with the ties supplied and thats it TOTALLY wrong. When you buy them also by a roll of Gaffa Tape and tape them on to bike to SEAL them on ie no air gaps also cover them completely in Gaffa tape. this part is so important I have included a picture to illustrate this below
7/ a flask price up to £20 get one with a steel inner the ones hat have the shiny chrome inner always tend to break and are of low quality

8/ Good boots are essential but can cost a lot of money however if you go to an army surplus store and buy German paratrooper boots you have a very effective and cheap solution second hand / resold they are £25 and new they are £50 these will hold all the crappy weather at bay and combined with the ski socks your feet will be just fine. A stockist of these is located in Ealing 155 Uxbridge Road W13 tel:- 020 885678853 perhaps some one could forward me the details of a similar place in E London

9/ If you can afford proper armoured motor cycle clothing buy it "Spada" branding clothing is reasonably priced and for around £150 - £200 you can buy a complete armoured out fit this really does reduce the impact of the cold weather. Bill Bunns stock this clothing there telephone number is 02085606396. If not proper motor cycle gear make sure you outer layer is leather as this is non porous and so block out all the wind \ cold air making you feel a whole lot better.
10/ Heated grips £35 + up to £100 fitting depending on bike eg Dylan very dear C90 very cheap these are an absolute luxury but they can be hard to fit depending on the bike and believe it of not you can fit them to your trusty c90 easily.. I got some on mine how ever the dont work so well at low engine revs so good going to and from and area of pointing but once in that area and driving slowly the dont work so well but hey at least when you actually start to do your pointing you feel fine.
