I've tried three times to post instructions, but, 
for some indeterminate reason, the posts don't appear.

Once more:

The word to become a link should be bracketed between normal hyperlink "tags", thus:

<a href="link address (url)">word</a>

It will then appear simply as an underlined word (or phrase) in your posting.

Failing this, I shall post the same thing at 
<a href="http://home.btconnect.com/tipiglen/links.txt">links.txt</a>
