Mike Heron and Georgia Seddon
Mike Heron, together with Robin Williamson and Clive Palmer, was a founder member of Edinburgh’s Incredible String Band. Since the break-up of the ISB in 1974, Mike has continued to write songs in epic quantities (many re-released recently on the Glen Row Tapes CD) and has fronted a variety of bands. Mike's solo album 'Smiling Men With Bad Reputations' - produced by Joe Boyd, originally released in 1971 and then reissued in 2003 - featured a once-in-a-lifetime stellar cast from the aristocracy of folk-pop-rock musicians, including Pete Townshend, Richard Thompson, Elton John, Jimmy Page, Steve Winwood, Keith Moon, Dave Pegg and Ronnie Lane. He now makes music with his daughter Georgia Seddon. The pair have played many shows together, and an album is being discussed, but the first fruit of their collaboration is Song For Irena, with lyrics by the novelist John Burnside, on Ballads Of The Book.

Trades Quiz and Curry
Dave Boardman was recently described as a bit of a Jeremy Paxman... but he likes to think of himself as cuddly Dale Winton type quiz master who’s lovely to all the contestants. Judge for yourself. Fine food from the equally lovely Janet O and funds towards Hebden Bridge Labour Party.

3 Daft Monkeys

Combining rousing vocals, frenetic fiddling, 12-string guitar, dancing bass and foot drum... Celtic, Folk, Gypsy, Balkan, Punk, Reggae and various other World Music influences. Festival favourites who always go down well with the Trades Club audience, the 3 Daft Monkeys have been coming here since they were only known to a handful of people. Now a major part of the folk and festival scene they’re still coming. A good old ‘roll back the carpets’ night of dance.

Cabaret Heaven Summer Special with Rory Motion and Virgil Presley

NO its not autumn already...for a one off show Cabaret Heaven and the Trades Club combine to bring you a summer special featuring Rory Motion, singer, songwriter, comedian, poet and tree impressionist, who’s innovative show and laid back style and quirky set him apart from mere comedians - and make him a natural for Cabaret Heaven. He's supported by fantastic physical comic Maynard Flipflap and to round off the evening rockers will thrill to Virgil Presley, reminiscent of early Elvis, who’s done a Blues Brothers and ‘put the band back together’ just for us. Regulars DJ DJ, Dave the Poet, Bernard and Peggy, of course.

Souled Out
The Calder Valley has a long and rich history of excellent R n B bands. The Burlees Blues Band, Mighty Inseminators, The Matrix, Bloody Big Soul Band. . . Currently you can’t beat Souled Out for soul and R n B classics. With a nod towards Ms Winehouse they do throw in the odd recent song or two but its mainly classic tracks form this lot.

Natural Rhythm
Between 1990 and 1995 Bradford based Natural Rhythm gigged all over Britain and Europe. Now they’re back with a same raw Ska sound of their original album Bluebeat and Ska. They describe themselves as Ska Warriors who take no prisoners. The original line up is still there but with extra horns they now have a fuller sound.

Sally Rocks the Valley with Anola Gray and Ignore This Fist
This is the last of a series of events called “Sally rocks the valley nights” before Sally Weaver goes back to university at Leeds Metropolitan. Two very different sounding bands, Ignore This Fist and Anola Gray makes for a very fun night with plenty of variety. They have a lot of success since they started and have a good following and some great reviews, including one from D:One Radio in derby saying that they are definitely ones to watch for the future and this review from Tim G. Ex MTV Mash-ups producer and now Bigtone Recordings: "Anola Gray have a solid idenity that borrows elements of several different genres but sounds like none of them. Fantastically raw vocals that sound like nobody else, and drums and guitar that echo the likes of The Mars Volta and Oceansize. The result is something that sounds original, powerful and most importantly, natural. A bunch of lads making a sound they want to hear. When it could so easily sound like a carefully contrived imitation of the bands they draw influence from." Support comes from Ignore This Fist.

Hebden Bridge Arts Festival presents Comedy with Triona Adams - Nun the Wiser
Downing her last dirty martini of 1999 and calling out “Ciao” to her Soho theatrical agency, Triona Adams celebrated 2000 by joining an enclosed Benedictine convent where she intended to spend the rest of her life. One year later and she was back; wiser and slimmer but with really bad hair. Now Triona invites you to pull up a pew and hear her confess what really goes on under the habit … . Triona Adams was a leading West End theatrical agent and lectures in Theatre History. Author of ‘The Lemon Squeezer', for BBC R4, and writer/performer of Bar Nun, at London's Canal Café, her Facebook religious status reads “Failed Nun.” This is another Edinburgh preview, so book early to avoid damnation!
