| Glenn Tilbrook + Molly Jones | ||
| Alongside Chris Difford, Glenn Tilbrook formed one of the great songwriting partnerships of the New Wave era with Squeeze. Their pop classics included “Up the Junction”, “Pulling Mussels (From The Shell)” and “Another Nail In My Heart”, all featuring Glenn on guitar and lead vocals. In the last decade Glenn has built a successful solo career, and the songs just keep coming. His most recent CD “Pandemonium Ensues” provides catchy melodies and great singing that were the hallmark of his old band (with cameos from Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis). His solo shows include old and new songs plus a few covers, and Glenn is renowned for his forays into the audience, even on occasion leading them on a tour of the neighbouring streets. |

| Spring is here again and we are celebrating with one of our favourite bands, Tarantism. They have been hibernating in the studio for the last few months, and this is the first date of a tour to promote their new double album “Music is Music”. One of the most exciting bands on the festival circuit, Tarantism will play two sets, starting with their original live sound of high energy celtic ska dub, later morphing into the infectious beat of the Tarantism Sound System. With the inimitable DJ Badger moulding his way around the band with a relaxing start, groovy middle and a bouncy end. Plus tea, cakes'n'stuff at the hippies’ “all for donations café”. | We are well pleased to have managed to get Simon Munnery to appear on our stage. He achieved fame as the creator of Alan Parker, Urban Warrior and has since had TV and radio series to his name. The Observer described him as “one of the most original and talented comics in the country”, and he has a lovely intimate, quirky and warm style. What a treat! He's joined by Goronwy Thom, a hilarious and multi-skilled fool of a performer who has gigged from the Moscow State circus to Glastonbury where the website said “I laughed / cried for half an hour. So funny”. More acts to be announced, with Peggy and Bernard and DJs. |

| Chumbawamba + Belinda O'Hooley and Heidi Tidow |
SOLD OUT | |
| Chumbawamba take to the stage once more to celebrate the release of their new album ABCDEFG. The theme of the album is music – that volatile stuff which both the band and their audience have shared for as long as they can remember. Armed with acoustic guitars, accordion and trumpet, five-part harmonies and a bucketful of attitude, the band is touring to promote this gem. The new songs cover such diverse topics as the wearing of iPods in public places, censorship of music under repressive regimes, the power of the voice and Simon Cowell’s come-uppance. They are joined by O’Hooley & Tidow: dapper-suited gentlewomen with a wryly observant, melancholic and sometimes uncomfortable take on life. The pair will be playing songs from their new album, Silent June, with stark and beautiful piano playing that some will recognise from O’Hooley’s time as pianist with the Unthanks. | Chris Helme | ||
| Chris is currently writing and recording for his 2nd solo record, due out later this spring on Little Num Num Music, the label he co-founded in 2009. The album sees Chris drawing on lots of early influences, Says Helme: “I’ve been digging out my old blues records again, Big Bill Broonzy, Brownie McGhee, Bukka White and also Billie Holliday and Ray Charles. It sparked a feeling in me and I began to remember what hooked me into playing and singing in the beginning. I’ve always had a tendency to lean towards blues and Jazz and my voice is developing as I get older, so it seems natural to explore that avenue of influence.” However, the new record promises to have some modern, less obvious, twists and will see Helme collaborating with some of the many musicians he has met whilst touring over the last year. Chris’ first solo album: ‘Ashes’ was released in May 2008. Since then he has been on the road (and rail) gigging almost continuously ever since. Playing over 200 shows in the year following the release has allowed him to reconnect with the legion of fans he had from his Seahorses days and also gain a new generation of admirers of his ‘emotional, stripped down set of late night love songs’ (IsThisMusic.com). A break from touring at the start of 2009 gave Chris and his then band ‘The Yards’ the chance to put the finishing touches to their swansong record ‘Imperial Measures’. With Helme’s distinctive vocals and song writing running throughout the album’s 12 tracks, the record not only proved the perfect follow up to The Yard’s eponymous 2005 debut, but also to Chris’s more recent solo work; many of the album’s tunes have formed the staple of his live shows over the last 18 months. The Yard’s have since called it a day and this has allowed Chris to concentrate fully on his new record and given him the time to keep up his hectic solo tour schedule.Whilst putting the finishing touches to his forthcoming album, Chris is still out gigging while he can and it is onstage alone where he really shines, his singing and song writing possessing a honed craft and emotional depth which these days are a rare thing indeed. With late night DJs. |
