For decades the face of Keir Hardie, founder of the Labour
Party,
has stared down
from the
wall of the Trades Club’s members bar.
The picture was removed last year when the room was revamped, but will soon occupy a new site in the entrance stairwell, along with photos of the Trades Club's trades union founders. The A4 print is from a drawing by Cosmo Rowe, copied from a photograph by George Charles Beresford. It was sent to Rowe by Keir Hardie who wanted copies to use in his election campaign. Copies of the Keir Hardie print have been made
and are available to club members at a
low price
of £5.00 plus 50p postage and packing. Thanks to Calvin for his work reproducing the prints. Get your copy of the print by sending a cheque for £5.50, made out to The Trades Club, along with your name & address
to: You can also call in to the Club to buy a copy or email: pete@tradesclub.info |
