Manners not Mayhem
Our Puppy Classes allow puppies to mix and meet happily with other puppies in their own age group. Our Puppy Classes are not a free for all, there are rules and close supervision, Puppies are not left to run loose as a rabble, the idea of allowing puppies to run loose together as a mob was promoted as "socialisation" some years ago, today it is recognised by every knowledgeable authority and every sensible trainer as dangerous and discredited. Puppies learn nothing from running hysterically as a mob. Canine manners and skills take months to learn, 5 minutes manic behaviour is damaging in terms of development and leads to injuries that can last a lifetime.
Our Puppy Classes are designed to build confidence and maintain canine social skills, they are not opportunities to allow puppies just to run wild, to bully or to be bullied, to terrorise or be terrorised. As well as the social benefits our Puppy Classes are early learning classes. Families learn how to teach their puppies to sit, lie down and come on command. We train using tit-bits and toys and in addition to formal exercises we place a lot of emphasis on handling puppies, grooming, and the use of leadership behaviour to assert authority in the kindest and most effective way.
Our Puppy Socialisation Classes are covered by our Flexible Attendance scheme and are not subject to arbitrary date or age restrictions, you may join classes as soon as your puppy has had its first inoculation and may carry your classes over into our Adult Classes, if you miss a weekday class you can attend another weekday class instead and you won't be penalised if you miss one or more weeks. If you are unable to attend our Puppy Socialisation Class please call us to discuss bringing you puppy to one of our regular Dog Training Classes, all our Training Classes are suitable for young puppies.

In the litter puppies learn the essential skills associated with being a dog, first from their mother and then from their siblings. In the litter puppies learn how to play with other dogs, how to submit and how to assert themselves, how to initiate games and how to stop them, how to take possession and when to relinquish possessions.
Our Puppy Classes provide an opportunity to nip problems in the bud, we offer advice on house training, car sickness, mouthing and play biting, crate (cage) training, child-dog relationships, feeding and a host of other issues. Our Puppy Classes are very informal and friendly and owners are encouraged to use them as a forum to discuss their positive experiences or the challenges they are working through with their puppies.
Our Puppy classes are open to all puppies as soon as they have had their first inoculation, usually at 8 weeks. To avoid risk of infection we disinfect the premises before classes with an approved disinfectant and no puppies or dogs are permitted at any class unless we have evidence that a conventional inoculation has been given. Where classes are held at our paddock, the area is not used by any dog who has not been inoculated. Until inoculations are completed we recommend that puppies are carried from cars into the training area.
Our puppy Socialisation Classes are a part of our flexible attendance scheme, this means you pay for a set number of lessons not for a set number of weeks. So if you miss a week it doesn't matter just come the week after and so on until you have used up all your credits. You can carry your credits over to our
Puppies can remain at the Puppy Classes until they are 16 - 20 weeks of age. By 20 weeks of age puppies have the attention span and mental capacity to enjoy more demanding training, by this time they are able to mix freely with other dogs and are less in need of puppy to puppy socialisation. At 16 weeks of age puppies can join our
Our Puppy Socialisation Classes are based on the KCGCDS Puppy Assessment which promotes sociable behaviour, good manners and reinforces the social, legal and practical responsibilities of dog ownership. The KCGCDS Puppy Assessment is attained through ongoing assessment in class, there is no single test at this level. T4D Senior Instructor is one of a very few Kennel Club Qualified Assessors for all levels of the KCGCDS a fact that contributes much to our outstanding success rate.
Our puppy Socialisation classes take place at Wield Village Hall North East Hampshire.
