TGIS came into being as the result of a Disciple course that was run in the Cannock Chase Methodist Circuit. Disciple courses are 34 - 40 week courses of more in-depth bible study that compliments the Alpha course. When the course completed, a number of those who had taken part felt called to share their experience of meeting with God. This grew into what is now TGIS, Thank God It’s Saturday.
The aim of TGIS is to provide a meaningful worship experience that is open and God centred. Though based in a Methodist Church, TGIS is interdenominational and welcomes anyone who has a desire to worship God. Every second month we have a guest speaker with praise and testimony for the in-between months.
By meeting on a Saturday, TGIS is not an alternative to people worshiping in their own congregations, but is intended to be a source of inspiration to help and encourage people’s worship lives within their own church families.
