Olton Chess Club News
 

Introduction

Olton Chess Club meets at Tyseley WMC every Tuesday, from 7pm and has its own website. The club has five teams competing in the Birmingham & District Chess League and 2 in the Leamington & District League. During the summer weeks, an internal Tournament is run over several weeks.

Birmingham League

Division 1 - Played 12 - Won 4 - Drawn 4 - Lost 4 - Points 12 - Place 5th=

Division 2 - Played 12 - Won 7 - Drawn 1 - Lost 4 - Points 15 - Place 5th

Division 3 - Played 12 - Won 3 - Drawn 2 - Lost 7 - Points 8 - Place 10th

Division 4 - Played 11 - Won 2 - Drawn 3 - Lost 6 - Points 7 - Place 10th

Division 5 - Played 11 - Won 2 - Drawn 2 - Lost 7 - Points 6 - Place 10th

The club hosted the Birmingham & District League's annual Lightning Team Tournament in March. Over 50 players competed in 3 sections, in games played at 10 seconds per move. Olton A finished second in section A, while the B team were 3rd in section B. The C team were 5th in section C .

Leamington League Champions

The Division 1A team won the League Title and were unbeaten. The B team finished 6th, with 15 points from 16 matches. The C team were last in Division 2.
