SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY 2007 This took place on Thursday 13th December in the Concert room. There was great entertainment provided by a Duo, a female comedienne and some from less expected quarters. The evening started with a set from male-female Duo VOODOO, who have played at the club in support of other acts and in their own right. Although there was no theme to the evening, this act seemed to hit all the right notes with the assembled crowd, which also contained some younger persons. Next, it was time for the buffet and once again, thanks go to Lynn and her staff for putting on such a great spread. The queue for food seemed to stretch all round the room, but there was plenty to go around. Next, it was time for the female comedienne ELAINE KING to come on stage. She seemed to target various members of the crowd, both young and old, with some cheeky, but well-intended banter. Even members of the committee did not go without a mention. Everyone had to laugh, even if you were the victim. One of the committee was selected as a 'volunteer', to go up on stage. Also selected was old Arthur - probably the worst mistake in Elaine's career. Arthur would not play ball throughout the rest of the act and the comedienne was convinced that he was a stooge set up by the club. He couldn't have acted it better ! After the comedienne, there was a raffle, with prizes including scotch, wine, a watch and jigsaws. Finally, Voodoo came back on stage for a second set and round off an excellent night at the club. |
