25/05/2012 - It is with great sadness that we hear that John Middleham passed away on Wednesday. John was a loyal member of the club for many years, serving on Committee and then as President. He became Club Secretary in 2007 and continued to bring the club into the 21st century with his enthusiasm and new ideas. His vision saw the introduction of the fantastic facilities we have today, including the magnificent smoking balcony, a door entry system and a car park we can all be proud of. John was a club man at heart and a man of principle. He knew that there were hard decisions ahead and was prepared to take them, sometimes at the expense of his own popularity. He was always willing to help someone in need if he could. Our condolences go to his family, especially his wife Pat. He will be sorely missed.

12/05/2012 - A photo of Richard Reynolds' presentation at the CIU conference appeared in the May edition of 'Club Journal'. The presentation was made by CIU President, George Dawson.

29/04/2012 - ZUMBA DANCING classes will start on Friday evenings from 18th May. More details to follow.

28/04/2012 - Members can now take advantage of WiFi access within the club. Pick up a card from the bar containing instructions on connecting your laptop to the internet.

25/04/2012 - Congratulations to club Steward Ron Smith and his wife Linda, who have been in the club's service for 20 years. President Richard Reynolds presented a commemorative certificate to the couple during bingo to mark the occasion. They also received a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.

16/04/2012 - There will be BANK HOLIDAY FUNDAYS on Monday 7th May and Monday 4th June. In May, we will have a food van and a bouncy castle, as well as all-day opening.

15/04/2012 - Richard Reynolds attended the CIU annual conference in Blackpool on Saturday and officially received his Club Management Diploma certificate and badge.

9/04/2012 - The club held a childrens Easter fancy dress party and bingo for the adults on Easte Monday.

12/03/2012 - The club now has a BT Openzone wireless hotspot. Members who are BT Internet customers can use their pre-paid minutes or free vouchers to access the internet when visiting the club. Pick up a leaflet to see how to connect your laptop or mobile device using your own logon credentials.

04/03/2012 - There will be a Childrens Easter Fancy Dress competition on Easter Monday, 9th April. This will start at 12 noon and will be followed by a session of bingo for the adults at 1:30pm.

02/01/2012 - The club AGM will take place on SUNDAY 8TH JANUARY, starting at 11:30am.

01/01/2012 - The New Year's eve celebrations were well attended at the club, with TONY SHANNON in the lounge and a family disco in the Concert room.

28/12/2011 - The club had a very successful Christmas, with excellent attendances on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day (lunchtime) and Boxing Night. Keith Brett's guitar/vocal performance on Boxing Night was very well received. Christmas Night and Karaoke on Friday 23rd also saw good attendances.

27/12/2011 - The CHRISTMAS RAFFLE has been drawn, but so far, the top prize has not been claimed.

19/12/2011 - The Senior Citizens and Childrens parties were both well-attended and received very favourable reports.

28/11/2011 - Tickets are selling well in the Christmas raffle. There are cash prizes, shopping vouchers, spirits and chocolates.

30/10/2011 - There will be a family disco on SATURDAY 3RD DECEMBER. The PENSIONERS PARTY will be on THURSDAY 15TH DECEMBER and the CHILDRENS PARTY on SATURDAY 17TH DECEMBER, 1:00-4:30pm.

22/10/2011 - There will now be a disco with TONY ODELL and a karaoke with TOMMY on alternate Friday nights.

08/08/2011 - Richard Reynolds has taken the CIU's Club Management Diploma exams and passed both sections. He finished with the highest scores nationally in both sections and will be presented with the gold award and diploma at the 2102 CIU Conference in Blackpool. An article appeared in the August edition of Club Journal.

26/07/2011 - There will be a FUNDAY on August Bank Holiday Monday. Bouncy Castle 12-4pm, food wagon, ice cream, sports competition, etc. Entertainment over the weekend will include an Elvis Tribute (Friday), Tony Shannon (Saturday) and Lorna May (Sunday).

25/07/2011 - Friday evenings will now feature DISCO with TONY ODELL. 60s, 70s, Motown & Soul. There will also be a promotion on draught beer - Buy 6 pints, get one free on all draught products. Get your card and collect 6 stamps on Fridays. Redeem completed cards on Fridays.

11/06/2011 - Roy Humphries was elected President and Richard Reynolds Vice-President in the Club elections.

09/06/2011 - The Nomination sheet for committee posts has been posted in the doorman's office. Elections will take place on the weekend of 8th July.

09/06/2011 - The club AGM will be held in the concert room on SUNDAY 3RD JULY, starting at 11:30am.

26/05/2011 - The Snooker section are running a SUMMER KNOCKOUT TOURNAMENT at venues including the Tyseley and Perfection clubs. Semi-Finals and Final to be held at Tyseley WMC. 1st Round/preliminary rounds are to take place on 16th June.

25/05/2011 - There will be a BEER & SKITTLES night on Friday 10th June. A skittle alley will be set up in the concert room. Teams of 4 players will compete against each other, £10 a team. Proceedings kick off at 7:30pm.

25/05/2011 - MEMBERS NIGHT is on Friday 3rd June. Beer is £1.20 a pint. Wine (bottle) £1.20, shorts £2.09 a double. Entertainment is provided by MARY ANTHONY. Late Bar, Members only.

23/04/2011 - CONGRATULATIONS to the football team, who won the KEELEY CUP on Sunday.

22/04/2011 - The CHESS CLUB'S Leamington League Division 1 team have won both the LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP and the OPEN KNOCKOUT CUP. Phil Holt won the League Individual Lightning Tournament.

22/04/2011 - The Football team have got through to the Keeley Cup Final, which will take place at Castle Glades, Lugtrout Lane, Solihull, on Sunday 22nd May. Kick-off is at 10:30am. They will be playing against Moseley Mariners. Best wishes from everyone at the club for the day.

18/04/2011 - Monday 2nd May is MAY DAY and there will be a fun day at the club, including BOUNCY CASTLE, a fire engine, sports events and more.

18/04/2011 - There will be a special night for the Royal wedding on Friday 29th April. There will be a 70s disco, plus JOHN SANTEE and a late bar.

28/06/2010 - The West Midlands CIU meeting was a great success on Saturday. More than 40 delegates attended the club from all over the region. John Tobin CMD, the Union Vice-President gave a talk on club financial control. Heineken UK provided advice on changing legislation in the licenced trade and gave out samples of their products. Delegates staying on after the meeting enjoyed a game of dominoes, the club atmosphere whilst a bowls match took place and a chat with club members.
