Petroleum License New legislation introduced a few years ago mean all scrap cars or insurance write-offs entering breakers yards now have to be de-polluted. This means: |
| All vehicles entering premises must be temporary stored on an 8inch thick concrete surface which must have a rainwater drainage system connected to a filter system called an interceptor tank whilst reusable parts like engines etc. are checked for resale suitability. | |
| Then the vehicle is moved to our de-pollution bay where batteries, tyres and all fluids right down to the windscreen washer fluid are drained and stored ready for recycling by outside contractors. | |
| Then the vehicle can be stripped for parts. | |
| We have invested in new buildings, one off which was designed specifically as our new vehicle de-pollution unit. | |
