In the hazard perception test there are 14 video clips. (13 contain 1 hazard and 1 contains 2 hazards). Marks are awarded for the speed at which you react to the hazards as they occur on the screen. To pass you must score at least 44 out of 75.

Both parts of the theory test must be passed on the same day, and you must pass this before applying for the practical test.

The Practical Test

Practical Driving TestBefore driving you will be required to read a vehicle number plate at a distance of approximately 20.5 meters. Failure to do so will result in immediate termination of the test.

Next you will be asked a couple of "show me/tell me" questions about basic safety checks on the vehicle.

Then there will be approximately 35-40 minutes of driving. You are required to demonstrate that you have a sound knowledge of the Highway Code, and have the ability to drive on different types of roads and conditions.

The test will include 2 reversing manoeuvres, and possibly an emergency stop. To pass you must not commit more than 15 minor faults. A dangerous or serious fault will result in failure.
