WALLINGTON YOUTH AND JUNIOR FOOTBALL
WALLINGTON LITTLE LEAGUE

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

This page is dedicated to those players, managers and helpers who have since moved on from our league.
We will be catching up with some of our favourite former league personalities to fire some questions at them and to find our what they have been up to.
Also on this page we hope to carry information of the new football adventures being had by former players too, including occasional progress reports from those players who have been kept together to form teams in outside leagues.

So if you are a former player why not drop us a line via the link below to let us know where you are playing now or whatever else you're up to.

November 2008:
This next article has been kindly sent in by Jonathan Crosby who many will remember
was one of the star players of the Scorpions, the team that dominated the Mains League
in Season 2006/07. Jonathan was with our league for several seasons and was selected
to play for the Nationals Squad too.  He was a forward with bags of pace and ability who
scared defences to death on many occasions and I think he is continuing to do so with
his team in the wide world outside of Little League.

I left Wallington Little league when i was 13 still having one season left to play, the season just gone for me was easily the best we won the league, the cup and from what i can remember we finished runners - up in the power league  tournament too.
In the league we went on a 100% winning streak through the whole season which was a great thing to do. We conceded around 5 Goals all season, the second half of the season we conceded no goals until the  the cup final where we won 3-1 .
I played up front and scored 43 goals in the league and around 6 in the cup which was amazing for me and I thought I was rich as I was getting a pound a goal at home.
The only way i could of done that was from the support i had from my manager John Vigor and all the parents who watched
. I played for Wallington Little League for 7-8 years and what a time it was playing in three and winning all three cup finals but would not like to say what happened in one.
I Now play for Banstead Town Under John Vigor playing in Epsom and Ewell League Under 16 and being the youngest at 14 learning from the older lot has made me the player i am now. We formed last year and started in Epsom and Ewell League under 15s Division One as being the new team other teams thought we were going to be shambles so we trained all the harder. First game of the season we lost 2.1 with our goal keeper taking our penalty and missing. From there we worked towards a promotion spot and came 3rd in our first season and getting to the last 16 of the Surrey Cup.
This season we did what other teams did when they played us last season thinking we are the best and from the results we have had we are not.
. Anyway back to Wallington. now the best memories were just after a match for the Scorpions getting called to play in the National squad under Steve, Adam and Andy which was good to know that  I had  been recognised for my performance in my season and hopefully this year i can be apart of helping with the nationals squad as Steve has asked me and it would be great to give something back.

Thank you John for that super piece and it's great to know you are still knocking in the goals and even better to know you want to come back and help out, keep enjoying your football.

Update on Monday 17th February:
A big thank you to Sandra Weston for getting in touch with us to tell us about
the progress of her son Aaron.
Aaron was a player with our league in the Inter Yellows and was an outstanding
talent but due to the fact that a player can only play for one Little League at a
time he had to choose between us and Morden and it was Morden who were
lucky enough to keep his services.
He was a star of their Nationals team for two seasons but has always kept in
contact with us and used to play in our Tuesday evening sessions we used to
run at Powerleague.
He has played in all positions from Goalkeeper through to centre forward where
he is a real talent.
The great news we have received is that Aaron has been scouted by Chelsea
is currently on a half term training camp with them.
Whatever the future holds this is a real super experience for him and we wish
him well and want to remind him just how proud we are of him.
We know that competition for places at a club like Chelsea is tough and maybe
this may not work out straight away but he has to know he has achieved something
very special by becoming noticed and this is very good experience for him.
Well done Aaron and good luck for your future.

LOOKING FOR A TEAM?
Are you now too old for Little League but still looking to play Youth Football ?
There is a good website that is worth looking at. It provides advertisements from many
teams looking for players from all over the country.

The website is: www.yellowjersey.co.uk
Put in your area and have a browse to see what teams are still looking for players.
Remember though, that you should always tell your parents or guardians if you are
attending a trial or training session with a team and if possible take a responsible
person with you.
