The excellent ~ and independent, non-commercial ~ web site Doggie Pubs recommends:

"Warkworth House is actually the main hotel in the centre of the village and they have a lovely bar (with it's own front door), where dogs are welcome. The bar & restaurant are fully open to non-residents all year round. The food & drink is delicious, of course, and excellent value for money. There are 15 rooms in the hotel and they allow dogs in half of them"

Pet Places

We also recommend the Brackenrigg Inn in the Lake District as another great J&G Inns
property where pets are truly welcome and where you'll find wonderful places to explore

paws for a walk

As Doggie Pubs puts it: " Dogs are welcome in the Bar but not the restaurant. Good food. Dogs allowed to stay in 3 [*] of the 17 bedrooms. Full wheelchair access suite where they also permit guide dogs. Good local walks and pub garden."    [*] Please note: it's now 6 rooms
