Here’s what Les Routiers had to say about us when they visited…
“ A fine example of a provincial former coaching inn, the ambience of this smart
hotel is traditional and relaxing. Warkworth village is enclosed by a loop of
the River Coquet and has a magnificent castle as a centrepiece; the hotel is
near the old stone bridge.
Enjoy a morning coffee .... or a pre lunch or dinner drink in the bar,
remembering to check out the magnificent stairway which was originally made for
Brandenberg House in London ....
The individually designed bedrooms are spacious and have interesting views.
Two
on the ground floor are well suited to those with mobility difficulties.
Dinner is served in the peaceful dining room, overlooking the rear courtyard.
The kitchen team takes great pride in preparing everything from breads and soups
to sweets. Start with smoked salmon roulade with cream cheese flavoured with
ginger and move onto oven-baked duck breast with creamed apple tarte tatin.
You
can also eat in the bar where local dishes are enjoyed in season
– game
casserole or bouillabaisse.
As with its sister establishment, The
Brackenrigg Inn,
wines are well chosen and a good selection is offered by
the glass.”
