How do we enable the people of Christ to fulfil their part in God’s mission; teaching, baptising and nurturing believers?

 

 

What are the good things we are already doing?

 

·         Summer Beach Mission for youth at Breck Farm Bodham

  • Recently established Young and Youth Seekers’ Groups meet monthly in Bodham
  • Priest links with Kelling Primary and Sheringham Primary schools
  • Baptisms, confirmation and weddings
  • Confirmation Group linked with St Andrew’s Holt
  • 4 of 6 Churches open every day during daylight hours
  • ‘Link-Up’ magazine to all 1200 households – 10 times a year
  • Christmas and Easter Cards with details of services to every household
  • Monthly Julian Meetings
  • Variety of Worship and Worship styles
  • Outreach Services: Candlemas; Commemoration; Christingle
  • Bible Study Groups: 2 meet monthly, one weekly. Lent and Advent groups.
  • ‘Fresh Expressions’ service for Harvest in the ‘Dun Cow’, Salthouse
  • Ministry Team includes equal numbers of clergy, readers and laity currently supporting Ordinand in training

 

What else is God wanting for us?

  • Open all churches in the benefice each day during daylight hours: open for prayer; open for the young; open for the visitor/tourist/pilgrim
  • Meeting the people where they are – worship in church; worship out of church
  • Making full use of the buildings: hospitality and welcome; mission boards proclaiming the Good News – visual impact for visitor and pilgrim
  • Children and Youth Project for the Benefice – seeking and nurturing leaders
  • More people meeting to pray regularly
  • Developing other forms of worship that focus on the needs of the young and the seekers 

 

What can we do this year (2008)

·         West Beckham – open during daylight hours

·         Bodham – open during daylight hours by creating a secure vestry area

·         Salthouse – Mission Board; restoring  and refurbishing Lady Chapel; children’s space

·         Kelling – refurbishing Lady Chapel for prayer

·         Upper Sheringham – refreshment table; children’s space; refurbishing Lady Chapel for prayer; Mission Board

·         Weybourne – major re-ordering of the North Aisle to create flexible space for worship, sacred space for prayer; for use by children; Mission Board and exhibition

·         Set-up Youth Project Worker – explore liaison with Church Army

·         Set-up monthly half-day of prayer from January 2008
