WEYBOURNE FRIENDSHIP CLUB:

An enjoyable afternoon was held in August when Brenda and Geoff Worton gave an illustrated talk entitled "Have you seen the Muffin Man?" members were able to have a glimpse down memory lane with the aid of a collection of cigarette cards.

For the 14th October meeting, at 2.30pm, we are looking forward to a visit from the Jubilee Singers from Sheringham.

COFFEE MORNING:

A Coffee Morning will be held in the Chapel on the 28th October from 10am until 12noon. In addition to the usual refreshments, there will be on sale books and jigsaw puzzles, handicrafts, homemade cakes, preserves, fruit and vegetables, and good quality Bric-a- Brac. All proceeds will go to help a remarkable young woman by the name of Melissa IIboudo who is a student at the U.E.A. studying International Development. Twenty-three year old Melissa is from Burkina Faso which is the second poorest country in the world. She is trying to raise money for irrigation equipment and seeds for the very dry northern part of the country. The target is £20,000 and if she succeeds the E.U. have pledged a further £60,000 for the project. If you cannot make it to the Coffee Morning, donations payable to Christian Aid may be sent to Eldred Willey at Christian aid, The Kings Centre, King Street, Norwich, NR1 1PH.

AUTUMNAL THOUGHTS:

Now that Summer's lease has finally expired, the holidaymakers have departed, and the excited cries of children playing on the beach are but a fading memory of sunny days now gone, we have our own little corner of this "sceptered isle" to ourselves again. Keat's season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is with us once more. At this glorious time of the year when the countryside is ablaze with colour and the hedgerows are laden with nature's bounty, what could be better than a walk by the sea? On a crisp, clear, Autumn day when the air is like champagne, the sea sparkles like a bed of diamonds and the sun has that special golden glow that only comes at this time of the year, one can only rejoice in the beauty of our world. Wouldn't it be nice if perhaps we were to pause just now and again, and give thanks to the Divine Creator who gave us all this? I'm sure He'd appreciate it!
