A stunning long duration grandfather clock.

This 18th century mahogany long case clock, made circa 1790 by Thomas Gaskell of Knutsford is of exceptional quality. The detailed case has decorative brickwork, an ogee moulded hood door, etc, etc.
This fine case houses an outstanding movement, which is long duration of approximately 3 months.
The substantial movement is held together by six pillars. The wheelwork has six and four spoke crossings. It has centre seconds with dead beat escapement.
The heavy gauge dial plate has fine quality matting to the centre; there is moon-phase to the arch with the makers name cartouche above.
The maker of this important clock is listed as working from 1760.
