A well figured 18th century mahogany long case clock which has excellent patination.
The details on the case are stunning with superb blind-fretwork and beautifully carved mouldings. The trunk has quarter reeded columns and the base has canted angles. There is also crossbanding to the trunk door and raised panel base.
The brass dial is signed on the chapter ring with the maker’s name; Lough of Penrith. There is a cartouche in the arch inscribed Jos. and Elizabeth Mann 1780. It would appear that they were the original recipients of the clock and it was probably a wedding present.
This clock is 7’ 6” in height.
