Of splendid figure and proportions this mahogany longcase clock was made in London by Kenneth Maclennan who is recorded in Britten’s book as working between 1778 and 1825 at May’s building, St. Martin’s lane. It is also note that he made a planetarium for the Royal Institute in 1801. The clock is of the best quality, the pendulum has a heavy bob with calibrated adjustment, the movement has shaped plates and has the rare feature of half-hour striking. The case has the normal London refinements of brass strung columns and moulded surrounds to the trunk door and base, however this example is particulary well figured and proportioned Made circa 1790 Height 7’9” Price Category £15,001-£20,000
