In the eighteenth century, the German Doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, widely read and educated, drew on the experiences of predecessors such as Paracelsus and Hippocrates, to bring into practise a means of curing illness without resorting to drugs which sometimes had devastating side effects.
Thus, Dr Hahnemann, developed a system of cure which he called ‘Homoeopathy’, meaning ‘similar suffering’. The substance used as a remedy is first rendered safe and used in various ‘strengths’ or ‘potencies’, to match as near as possible the symptoms you, as the patient are experiencing. During treatment the body’s own capacity for cure and self regulation is therefore stimulated.
It is quite usual to only have a small dose of a remedy. This can have a more profound effect than constant repetition.
Because Homoeopathy addresses the ‘individual’ and the ‘whole’ person, taking into account personality, constitution and life experiences, as well as, presenting symptoms, then it is possible that it is a process of treatment applicable to virtually any condition or illness. The progress towards well-being is also likely to be as individual and is appropriately discussed during consultation.
The first consultation takes approximately one and half hours, follow up sessions usually last about an hour.
