General Sir Robert Wilson 1849 - Westminster Abbey Dimensions of whole product (figure may lay within this): Height in inches: 41 Width in inches: 14 Weight in kg: 5.8 Full Scale, Replica or Theme? Full Scale PLEASE ALSO LOOK IN OUR 'MINI COLLECTIBLES' SECTION FOR SMALLER VERSIONS OF THIS BRASS The Wilson brass is unusual because of its incongruity of costume. Sir Robert is in the armour of a 15th century Lancastrian knight. He was General of the British Army, and served under Wellington in Napoleonic campaigns. His military career was brilliant if erratic. He held the titles of Knight Grand Cross of the Red Eagle of Prussia, The Military Order of St. Anna of Russia, Commander of the Imperial Military Order of Maria Theresa of Austria, Baron of the Holy Roman Empire, Knight Commander of the Imperial Portugese Miltary Order of the Tower and Sword, The Turkish Crescent, and the Military Order of Merit of Saxony. He was Governor and C-in-C of Gibraltar, Colonel of the 15th King's Regiment Light Dragoons, and Member of Parliament for Southwark for fifteen years. Meantime his wife, Dame Jemima raised their thirteen children. Price: £150.00 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%) |

Dame Jemima Wilson 1849 - Westminster Abbey Dimensions of whole product (figure may lay within this): Height in inches: 41 Width in inches: 14 Weight in kg: 5. Full Scale, Replica or Theme? Full Scale PLEASE ALSO LOOK IN OUR 'MINI COLLECTIBLES' SECTION FOR SMALLER VERSIONS OF THIS BRASS Dame Jemima, wife of Sir Robert, much decorated soldier, Governor and Commander in chief of gibraltar, lived from 1777-1823. The brass is engraved in the style of the Middle Ages, she wears a loose mantle over a wide- sleeved gown showing the close fitting sleeves of the kirtle beneath. With veiled head-dress and hair gathered into nets at the side of her face, Jemima's modest appearance is so similar to Margaret Bellingham's brass in Kendall (restored about 1860) it is assumed both were made at about this time, possibly by the same engraver. The seven sons and daughters of the couple are incorporated in the family brass which lies in the North Aisle of the Abbey. Price: £150.00 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%) |

Sons of Sir Robert and Dame Jemima Wilson 1849 - Westminster Abbey Dimensions of whole product (figure may lay within this): Height in inches: 19 Width in inches: 14 Weight in kg: 2.6 Full Scale, Replica or Theme? Full Scale These two charming brasses show the Wilson children. The brass to the Wilson family is laid in the North aisle of the Abbey and in this vulnerable position the heads of the Wilson boys have become badly worn. This brass shows the seven sons all wearing identical costume. The brass to the six girls is not quite so badly worn and shows them in various styles of dress. The children's costumes, like those of their parents, are out of keeping with the period. Their clothes are typical of the 19th Century idea of the fashions of the Middle Ages and are more romantic than factual. Price: £101.25 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%) |

Medieval Yeoman of the Crown 1480 - The society of Antiquaries, London Dimensions of whole product (figure may lay within this): Height in inches: 23 Width in inches: 9.5 Weight in kg: 2.3 Full Scale, Replica or Theme? Full Scale Of unknown origin, this brass, a small effigy, was presented to the Society of Antiquaries in 1849 by Hugh Welch Diamond of Soho, the first photographer of the Society. The brass was 'purchased by him, some years since, of a person stated it to have been dredged from the bed of the River Thames'. The condition of the brass does not substantiate the story of convenience. The crown insignia suggests this is a memorial to the Yeoman of the Crown, who were selected soldiers used as personal bodyguards by the king. Particular mention is made of them during Edward IV's reign. They were replaced in 1485 by the Yeoman of the Guard. Price: £93.75 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%) |
