TRAINS
Introduction:
Whittlesey
is one of those fortunate towns that still boasts a railway
station. It's not exactly the prettiest station in England, more
functional really, but at least it's still in use. It is served by
both Anglia Railways Ltd. and Central Trains Ltd. The more people
who use the station the longer it will remain open.
All
trains to/from Peterborough have good connections to/from London (King's
Cross), the Midlands, North of England and in many cases Scotland.
Connections to/from all parts of East Anglia are available via Ely,
Cambridge, or Ipswich. Connections via Birmingham to/from Wales
and the West Country.
The
car park is free. So how about using the train to take you to
Queensgate thus avoiding the nightmare of parking in Peterborough
(especially at Christmas Time).
No
Sunday services from Whittlesey.
For
all passenger train enquiries, ring NATIONAL LO-CALL on 08457 48 49 50.
Also check BBC2 Ceefax, page 491, for updates.
Please
note that owing to the unusual layout of the platforms passengers are
advised to arrive slightly early for trains to Peterborough and beyond,
as there is limited access to platform 1 when the crossing gates are
closed.
