Frequently
Asked Questions
Many
people who are interested in getting a tattoo have a few questions
about what will happen before/during/afterwards etc. Here we aim
to answer most of your questions regarding bodyart.
If there is something not answered here please email paul@paulharrisbodyart.co.uk
for advice.
Q. Does it hurt having a tattoo done?
A.
Yes. Don't let anyone tell you it doesn't. Depending on how much
it hurts depends on you, your pain
barrier, your skintone, the type of tattoo you are having done and
many other aspects. Some
people describe it as a tickle or a scratch, others think it is
sheer hell! Remember, if it didn't
hurt then everyone would have one - But think how proud you will
be when its done!
Q.
I've
seen something I would like done, but I'm not 100% sure, shall I
have it done anyway?
A.
No. Photocopy it/Print it out and put it next to your bed. Look
at it every day before you go to sleep
and when you wake up for a few weeks. If you're sure after that,
then go for it.
Q.
How
long does it take to heal, what do I have to do?
A.
A tattoo normally takes 7-14 days to heal, depending on your health
and the type/location of the
tattoo. We give a full aftercare guide with every tattoo which will
explain the best way to look
after it and the Do's and Don'ts.
Q.
How
do you ensure your equipment is clean?
A.
We do everything possible to make sure our equipment is clean. New
Needles are autclaved and stored
in sterile bags until use, then they are only used Once before being
disposed of in a 'sharps'
bin and taken away by Local Health authority services for incineration.
Machines are stripped,
soaked,
scrubbed and soniced between sittings. Ink is taken from small,
disposable cups and
disposable
latex gloves are worn during the whole process. A fresh disposable
cover is put on our
chair
for each sitting.
Q.
Do
you have to be licenced to carry out tattooing?
A.
Yes. We are registered with our Local Authority who have inspected,
and passed our studio and hygiene
procedures.
Q.
How
old do I have to be to have a Tattoo?
A.
You must be at least 18 years old. We will not tattoo anyone under
this age, or who we think may
be under this age. Bring ID if you think you may need it.
