RAPS Six JumpCourse:
Jump All By Yourself...
The RAPS Six Jump Course is a package that starts off with the initial Static Line RAPS Course but with an additional five jumps. It is a cheaper option than undertaking a Static Line RAPS course and paying for the extra jumps one by one, as the additional 5 jumps are at a discounted price. These additional jumps you may undertake whenever you want.
This Course Includes:
Static Line Jumps will be from a height of 3,200ft. Along with the initial training, you will also receive additional on-going instruction. This additional instruction will be aimed at getting you onto Free-fall; YOU pulling the handle to open the Parachute.
It begins with ensuring that you (the student parachutist) adopt the correct body position, the training for which is done during the initial course but will be on-going throughout. As a student parachutist you must be able to demonstrate that you can exit the aircraft correctly on two consecutive occasions in order to be cleared to go onto what is known as Dummy Ripcord Pulls (D.R.C.P.’s), or better known as Dummy Pulls.
For Dummy Pulls, a dummy handle is placed onto the Static Line parachute system in the place where the real handle would be on a free-fall system. The student parachutist, on exit, must maintain a level of control as they leave the aircraft but at the same time pulling the dummy handle. Only when this is demonstrated successfully on three consecutive jumps will they be then cleared for Free-fall. Therefore practice on the ground is of great importance, the more you practice the easier it will become.
When cleared for Free-fall you will receive further briefings from your Instructor on what is required. You will also now need to join the British Parachute Association (B.P.A.) as a Full Member; until this point you have held only Provisional Membership.
Your first Free-fall will take place from a height of 4,000ft. You will now have the responsibility of leaving the aircraft and free-falling for three seconds before pulling that all-important handle. However, once done, you will have a sensation like no other, a real sense of achievement. And will now be able to call yourself a SKYDIVER.
Clearance is based on your abilities, and progression onto the next jump is given only on passing the previous level.
To record the jumps that you make, and the additional training given, you will be issued with a log book. This book contains enough space to record 300 jumps. Apart from keeping it to record jump numbers and type, it is used as proof, to others’, of the level of ability that you have achieved and so able to progress to the next level in your training.
During this time you will also be shown how to pack the parachute back into it’s container, ready to be used again.
On completion of the six jump course you will be able to pay for any further jumps individually or as a block (discounted jumps), then continue on in the B.P.A.’s progression system, click BPA Operation Manual to view the B.P.A.’s progression in the Static Line RAPS course.
