An introduction to BirdWatching Holidays | ||
|
WildWings Birdwatching Holidays continue to offer exceptional value for money, from only £490 per person and are led by some of the world’s best professional tour leaders. Local guides usually join our parties' abroad too. We offer the best market value and most flexible arrangements such as the Polish and Goa Bird Festivals and Trinidad and Tobago. New programmes for 2007 include Scottish and North Atlantic Islands voyages, two superb sounding new Bird Festivals in Israel, one spring, one winter plus our self-drive Nature Journeys in New Zealand and some very exciting expedition cruises in search of Emperor Penguins. We team up with Birdwatch Magazine again for Sweden in the spring (very successful recce in 2006) and for a new autumn holiday looking for American vagrants in the Azores (plus the endemic bullfinch). Wild Insights holidays are largely full for 2007, 2008 advance details within including a new trip to Costa Rica (which will probably be full before this brochure is published!).We are also delighted to offer our third (and probably last, due to approaching retirement) season with the legendary Tom Gullick and his famous small group tours to Spain. Based at his very comfortable own home, Tom will show you the special birds of this country, mostly at private sites.
Our Antarctic experience is second to none, we have been taking people there for 15 years now and offer the best guided tours and/or range of voyages for the independent traveller too. We continue to be the company for pelagic travel. The exclusive Western Pacific Odyssey announced last year, our ultimate Galapagos itinerary, Spitsbergen and The Sub-Antarctic Islands of New Zealand and Australia. The Atlantic Odyssey, another trip pioneered by WildWings, runs from the ice to the tropics and departs again next March. The Humboldt Current itinerary also recently joined our range of essential voyages and we are thrilled to be returning to the Russian Far East again soon with our first departure next spring. By the way, we are working on another new ‘world first’ voyage, details in due course.
Out in the sunny Caribbean, Pax Guest House awaits you in bird-filled Trinidad, a natural history wonderland, especially combined with beautiful Tobago. The amazing value birding package now includes a visit to an Oilbird colony. Combine with a stay at the world famous Asa Wright Nature Centre. Daily direct flights operate from London Heathrow. Dick’s small group trip to Colorado for grouse and other spring birds runs again in 2008. The Polish Bird Festival and Beidaihe, China remain very popular, both already have a number of bookings. Last winter’s Goa Bird Festivals yielded nearly 300 species again bird and curries - another superb value WildWings event.
Our growing list of mammal tours are all very good for birds too, Brazil, Chile and China.
In addition to the holidays and tours in the following pages, many of our WildOceans tours are of interest to birders, especially the Baja California and Bay of Biscay trips, and of course our full programme of expedition cruises.
Some of the Ecovolunteer programmes are also bird projects. Please see pages 20-23 or visit www.ecovolunteer.org.uk
We greatly look forward to you joining us in the field!
