It hardly seems a year ago when we were putting together the 2006 Wild Insights calendar. Since then we have had our busiest year to date with all our UK and overseas activities being fully subscribed once again thanks to the enormous support and enthusiasm of our travelling companions – both regular and new to us. We are fortunate to find ourselves in the company of like-minded people – friendly and relaxed in their enjoyment of wildlife and readily embracing newcomers.

Perhaps the essence of Wild Insights is the approach we take in our appreciation of the natural world. For us, quantity is not synonymous with quality and although we usually encounter a wide range of birds and other wildlife we are not troubled by any desperate need to track down each and every species in a country simply to complete a list. On the contrary we prefer to spend time savouring and understanding the wildlife without dwelling on what we might be missing.

The year has left us once again with lasting images from the overseas tours. Who could forget the food-passing Black Harriers in the Western Cape, the extraordinary sequences of tiger activity in India (including mating!), Golden-cheeked Warblers at our feet in Texas and Lammergeiers galore in the Spanish Pyrenees.

For 2007 we are presenting another blend of foreign tours which include two new destinations – Bulgaria and Florida plus some recently developed tours such as Gambia and Extremadura. Not forgetting old favourites such as Namibia and Morocco which continue to attract considerable interest. The advance registration system really works! At the time of writing we are virtually sold out on the 2007 tours. If you have been unlucky, please don’t despair – we have already decided on the 2008 programme which we hope you will like but we do advise early booking. Just call WildWings.
