Below is a list of the main village events but also throughout the
year in the public hall there are events, talks and shows. Various local
organisations also hold fetes, barbecues and fund raisers on the Harbour
Head.
For an up to
date of what is going to happen look at “The Gate” down on the square. At
the bottom of Fore Street on the
corner of Commercial Road and Shute Lane.
April
Saturday 25th
Porthleven Food and Music Festival. 10am to 9pm. 40 Stalls - charcoal
making, fish barbecue, Morris men, hog roast, allotments, Anthony Worrell
Thompson, Fun!

July
Saturday
Annual St. Peterstide Celebrations. With a procession around the town and
harbour, led by the band. This is an ancient festival and bears a close
resemblance to the pardons of Brittany.
Wednesday 29th
RNAS Culdrose Air Day (Helston but they fly over us) - Annual spectacular military air day (not if
cloudy or raining) Plenty of stalls, exhibits, press ganging, etc.

August
Sunday 16th
RNLI Lifeboat Day. Includes a visit from the Penlee Lifeboat and a
helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, as well as water sports, stalls etc. A major
event attracting many hundreds of people.
Sunday
Pilot Rowing Gig
Day. Gig boat racing from clubs all over Cornwall. Stalls on the
harbour head. Cheer on the yellow Porthleven gigs "Energetic" and "St.
Elvan" who need all the help they can get.
Monday
Torchlight Procession. Held annually on the August Bank Holiday at
dusk. Hundreds of torches process around the village and harbour. Culminate
in a spectacular display of fireworks.

Mid December the village Christmas
lights go on.
